Hi, my name is Rob and letters are my creative outlet.

❥ Dear, Stranger.

All Skully ever wanted was a full head of hair. // Back from the dead with just a couple photos of this years’ Reddit Trick or Treat gift exchange. I made an attempt to replicate my bearded series but I’m getting a bit rusty.

✂ Box is purchased from the local post office, the “hair” consists of thin, colored paper, glued to perfection. Various text, ribs, legs, arms and skull are drawn on thicker construction paper. Post photo op the box was wrapped in clear plastic packaging tape to ensure arrival.

❥ Sincerely, Rehana.

An incredibly evolved letter sent by the inspirational, @rehanu. The 3D card, a pop-up replica of The Design Museum, absolutely floored me. Though it was purchased, I’ll have to give it a creative go myself, a considerable subject matter for my next project maybe?

✂ The purchased card is a 3D pop-up replica of the architectural marvel the Design Museum in London. Her letter is handwritten on decorated parchment and includes a mini letter for my dog Anny.

❥ Dear, Claire.

✎ Travel, be it business or pleasure, leaves me with very little time for creative experimental endeavors. Though once in a proverbial blue moon, travel plays a beautiful part in the catering of creative content. Win/lose as they say.

It seemed only fitting to send this letter farther than I myself have ever traveled — New Zealand to be exact — to the lovely @beamingclaire as a response to her Sleepy Hollow hand-written parcel.

✂ Envie is constructed with two Air Canada plane tickets, addresses added with a Dymo label maker, and pasted on thick plastic wrap to create the envelope pocket. Contents include several letters written on the back of printed Ready for Takeoff board-game graphics, photocopies of original hand-written birth/wedding certificates, a page of Slovak names days, and two Althaus teas all wrapped up in red/white twine.

❥ Dear, Rehana.

✎ For the love of science fiction, ROBOTS ARE TAKING OVER THE WORLD — well, not yet at least. Though I was happy to contribute to the mayhem by including a few terrifying tales and a miniature robot of her own, happy thoughts.

Additional photos thanks to @rehanu herself, found here and here!

✂ Envie is a newspaper comic cutout of a train ticket inspector, though the postman resemblance was too uncanny to resist a funny caption. The rest is either hand-drawn/written or printed content on thick stationary paper, using TUL gel pens and simple pink highlighters. The mini magazines are from the Fallout franchise and are slightly burned for post apocalyptic effect.

❥ Sincerely, Justine.

✎ The magnificent splendor that is @tofuful’s kawaii mailart, a part of our ongoing pen pal exchanges that you can find here. Oh, and here.

✂ Envie and letter are handmade from an arrange of purchased and scrap material.

❥ Sincerely, @jenny_lynn328.

✎ Speaking of nostalgic childhood memories, Jen was kind enough to share some of her own, including Disney animations and a pack of delicious pop rocks. I’m pretty sure, “did you know if you drink soda and eat pop rocks your stomach will explode?” was a discussions every child had back in the day.

✂ Envelope and contents were mostly purchased, yet wonderfully customized. Stamps are extras from a private collection.

❥ Sincerely, Bernice.

✎ Yeaaaah! Whenever you’re between letters and you’re waiting for that one big reply, postcard updates totally make up for the wait. In this special case, @burniikay writes about her recent trip to South Korea — jam packed with funny anecdotes, illustrative emoji’s and inspiring travel tales! Happy to be keeping up with your whereabouts, B.

✂ Postcard is locally purchased, yet awesomely custom decorated.

 ❥ Sincerely, Jen.

✎ Christmas has come and gone, but the letters keep on coming! This one’s from the lovely, @jenny_lynn328 and includes a pop-up Santa!

✂ Envie is brown parchment, which has been written on, stamped and posted. Inside is a coordinated combination of Christmas merch, including pop-up characters, stickers and a holiday-themed coaster.

❥ Dear, unnamed stranger.

✎ Went all out for redditgifts’ 2016 Trick or Treat Exchange this year, the giant online secret-santa-like gift exchange with over 5,000 participants in 69 countries. My match conveniently asked for local treats so I obliged, I splurged, and I wrapped up the best box of fantastic that I could find. Spot anything you like?

Edit: The package has arrived!

✂ Package is hand painted with acrylic paint. Contents include a variety of traditional Slovak candy, along with little stories of their origin, ingredients and other witty tidbits taped to each individual packaging. Orange and black straw was included to ensure things don’t move around during shipment.

❥ Wiske, dearest.

✎ Ahoj, there! Uh, not as the pirate slang, but as the Slovak version of both hello/goodbye — which doesn’t entirely make much sense since we’re rather land locked for there to be any real nautical connotation. Anywho, this rather pink masterpiece goes out as a response to my new Belgian pen pal Wiske, whose name I was kind enough to point out doesn’t exist in Slovakia… a real blunder since every day of the year we celebrate a different name. Think second birthday. I guess she’ll just have to settle for leap year.

✂ Oh boy, this string and button envie is decorated with a ripped out magazine page with cut and glued scraps to make the pink beard and address. I typically wrap the finished letter in clear plastic tape to ensure delivery. The letter itself is thin cardboard paper with elongated pieces of paper pasted. I went ahead and included a names day list found at the back of a calendar. Marilyn was purchased.
